About Lodge Hotels and Resorts

History

The Lodge Hotel Group, LLC is headed by Douglas G. Rohde and Joel C. Cairy . Mr. Rohde purchased The Lodge at Crooked Lake in Siren, Wisconsin in 2001. This "Pilot Project" concept was conceived here at this unique Northwestern Wisconsin Hotel and Conference Center with 60 guestrooms and suites and 6,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. The Hotel is the cornerstone to the Lodge Village situated amongst fifteen acres of scenic northwoods beauty. The Lodge Village complex consists of Adventures Restaurant and Sporting Pub; the shops at the Lodge which include, eight unique boutique retail stores and a day spa; Timbers Theatre at the Lodge, a four-screen stadium seating first run cinema; Lodge Center Ice Arena; and Moose Mulligan's Adventure Golf. These all make up the Lodge Village , a hospitality destination. Upon this property's success, Mr. Rohde and Mr. Cairy teamed up in 2004 and created Lodge Hotels & Resorts, a hotel development and management company. They took the concept of The Lodge at Crooked Lake and used it as a basis in designing The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes in Baxter , Minnesota .

The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes opened its doors in August 2005. With 102 northwoods-themed guestrooms and suites, over 10,000 square feet of meeting space, full service bar and restaurant and a 30,000 square foot indoor water park making it the newest full-service luxury hotel in the Brainerd Lakes market.

Since then the two Managing Partners have continued to grow "The Lodge" concept and grow the hotel management aspect of the business.

Every key player at Lodge Hotels & Resorts came from a hotel operating environment where they excelled in their chosen discipline.  All operating officers in the company have at least twenty years experience at all levels of hospitality and lodging products and bring with them rich and diverse backgrounds to guide the day-to-day operating performance of the portfolio.

In order to maintain brand compliance and continue the brand relationship, we have established strong relationships with each brand's support personnel and ensure compliance with Brand Operating Standards. We help each organization stay abreast of an ever increasing number of changes in franchise requirements and brand marketing solicitations. In keeping with the company mission statement, brand relationship development is vital to the success of each franchised property. This approach has allowed us to become a recommended management company by such franchisors as InterContinental Hotels Group.

Our organizational philosophy allows the Lodge Hotels & Resorts Home Office support group to have direct, routine contact with the hotels in their operational area. The Home Office interacts with their field counterparts to ensure that business and operational challenges are being addressed with a sense of unity and urgency.

Lodge Hotels & Resorts currently manages six (6) full-service hotels and resorts and two (2) restaurants in the Midwest. They own and operate three (3) facilities along with managing three (3) properties for other owners.
